Lively Singer of Young Forests
Overview
Chestnut-sided Warblers are a common summer resident in young forests and shrubby fields. They usually arrive in Vermont from their wintering grounds in South America by mid-May, and can often be seen and heard singing from exposed perches in young trees during the morning and afternoon. During the summer, they are quieter and often hide in the foliage.Conservation
While once an uncommon bird, Chestnut-sided Warblers have become one of the most common warblers in Vermont. Their preferred young forest habitat is abundant throughout the state.
