Overview
Goldfinches are a common resident throughout Vermont known for their vibrant summer plumage and cheerful song. Unlike most songbirds which eat a mix of insects, seeds, and fruits, goldfinches only eat seeds. In fact, they wait until late summer to nest so they can feed their young thistle seeds.

Goldfinches are common throughout Vermont in open, weedy fields and backyards.
